The Bratenahl Community Foundation had its beginnings as the Bratenahl Residents Action Committee (BRAC), founded in December, 1968.  Working with the Bratenahl Board of Education, BRAC worked to prevent Bratenahl’s schools from being forced to merge with Cleveland schools.  Part of that effort resulted in Bratenahl being the first suburban school district in the country to voluntarily integrate its school system!  The school system was eventually merged with Cleveland’s in a case that went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court,  However, BRAC evolved into the Bratenahl Community Foundation and it is our desire to honor that auspicious history as we go forward with more good works for the village that benefit all residents.
