The Bratenahl Sustainability Action Team grew out of the April, 2010 Future Search process. Our purpose is to transform Bratenahl into one of the most sustainable communities in Ohio. We seek to educate residents on practical things they can do to reduce their carbon footprint and live healthier, more connected lives.

With member Laura Bacci’s lead, we successfully applied for NOPEC funding in 2010 and got it–$50k– to do two major studies:

-Renewable energy feasibility study
-Greenprint audit for the community

Both of these are underway and near completion.

We don’t know what the future holds, but we know that projects will include things like:
-Applying for grant funds to put in wood-chip trails, benches and signage in the Bratenahl Greenspace Preserve and the Bratenahl Bird Sanctuary
-Energy efficiency education for the public
-Neighbor-to-neighbor buddy program for elderly folks
