BCF Donates Funds to Bratenahl Land Conservancy

The Bratenahl Community Foundation donated $2,000 in funding per year over a three year period (2006 through 2009) to the Bratenahl Chapter of the Western Reserve Land Concervancy to preserve an eight acre forest within the Village. The land parcel was one of the few remaining mature forests along the Lake Erie coastline in Greater Cleveland, and as a wooded property within the costal area, this site was a rare resource amidCleveland’s urban landscape. A proposed development of this land in the late ‘90s energized Villagers to stand up for greenspace and jump-started the Bratenahl Land Conservancy, later absorbed by the Western Reserve Land Conservancy in Novelty,Ohio.
